Growing up in Modesto, CA, Derek was once recognized as a budding creative talent to watch. Now that he lives in Los Angeles, no one cares about him.

Derek’s professional experience in the film industry includes working for companies such as Bad Robot Productions, Kilter Films (Westworld), and Helium Entertainment. He writes, directs, produces, and edits sketch comedy, music videos, and narrative films.

Derek’s screenplays and pilots have placed in competitions and fellowships as one of 10 finalists in the ScreenCraft Comedy Competition, a quarterfinalist in the Academy’s Nicholls Fellowship, a second-rounder in the Austin Film Festival, and a semifinalist in the Sundance Institute’s Development Track Program 2020. What does this all mean? It means he’s spent a lot of money on competitions and fellowships! Derek is currently developing his first feature film with Paul Feig’s production company.
